Healthy Hair

Our friend and distant family member, Nancy Vallerio has an idea. After working with many different populations in yoga she wanted to know how she could support the efforts of Reach Out Yoga. After exchanging stories of the girls, one incident stood out and sparked an idea. Hair Ties! Our young girls are blessed with long thick hair. It is a daily event that they line up for a squirt of coconut juice to help the growth and condition of their hair that is subject to the hot sun, dirt roads and hard water. The young girls help each other by combing the hair and braiding it with barrets and hair ties. The simple bands help to keep the children cool, give freedom to their active lifestyle and keeps the hair healthy. Not to mention that the girls are so very delighted at the colorful ties. Teachers have used the hair tie gifts as rewards to good grades, group projects and during classroom games.

Nancy has asked her students, friends and colleagues to give the simple gift of hair ties to send in support to the children. Thank you so much Nancy for your simple act from the heart.
